Surprise Birthday Gift for a Friend!!

I called this a "MIDNIGHT MIRACLE" because I started this yesterday afternoon for a Birthday Gift TODAY!
Having done this process before & knowing how it was going to turn out I was able to complete all the paint & artwork in just a few hours.  Now I'm waiting for the Top-Coat Varnish to dry for Transport this Afternoon!
I debated about putting the extra time & effort in the polka-dots underneath thinking no one would see them anyway ...until I took this photo from underneath looking UP!

This was an Old Childhood desk.  It now has a new life to be presented today for a Special Surprise Birthday Gift!!
A pretty surprise when drawers are opened with Dotted sides!  My signature distressed Stripe & Polka-Dot Legs!  Metallic Gold Trims the edge of the Table Top!

Decoupaged Drawer Fronts with Vintage Look Paper.  I also went through my Hardware-Morgue & found 2 Matching Antique Pulls that looked great on this piece.

A Light Breeze outside will Hopefully Dry the Varnish Quicker Today!

I found PICMONKEY.COM and am able to create neat collages of my work to post on Facebook and other places I feature my items to sell.  It's easy to use & helps organize many shots & angles of an item in ONE pic rather than having to download several.

Beachy Blue Makeover for and Old Pair

I was contacted by a lady to redo some of her furniture.  It was some stuff she had gotten when first married and has since upgraded her own set.  Still being in great shape she wanted a fresh new look for these dressers so she could still keep them and use them in her daughter's bedroom.  The little girl was thinking a "Beachy" look in a pretty shade of blue.  This is what I came up with.  Enjoy!

Tea for Two Table

Tea for Two Table
21" tall x 28" wide x 35 1/2" (both leaves up) or 28" (both leaves down)
Just $150
at Frou Frou Galore in Old Town Spring, Texas

I just love how this little table turned out but it didn't come easy!
I actually struggled with finishing this table & it sat for weeks half way done.  First of all it was in pieces and I had to glue & screw and basically rebuild the whole thing to stabilize it so it wasn't wobbly.  Nothing irritates me more than a shifty & wobbly table that has compromised joints.  So after doing that I decided to use a Chalk Paint colored in Duck Egg Blue.  I had just enough in a can that was left over from another project.  I painted it and yuck! .. I still wasn't happy with it and yet again it sat unfinished for another couple days while I got distracted working on another project.  After regrouping, I tackled the table again and thought.. I'll just paint it white, finish it and get this thing out of my house!  Ok, with that done I started the magic of sanding to distress it and was delighted when with pops of dusty blue emerged from underdeath.

This table is just the right height to add 2 little chairs for a childs table.
Tea Pary Anyone?

Drop Both sides and this table is an easy Side table for any Room!

Off the Beaten Path!

I have a morning route of places I go in search of the old, vintage, disgarded, broken-down & used up.
Heading into Tomball town that morning I took a short-cut which took me back behind a strip-center of shops where they keep the dumpsters & other back-ally stuff. As I was quickly driving thru trying to get to where I really needed to go I spotted something up ahead.  As I got closer I saw it was 4 chairs.  I got out & quickly inspected them for anything I wouldn't want to be trapped in my vehicle with.  They were pretty dirty but I discovered that the frames were SOLID and that the chairs were surprising HEAVY!!
It took me a while to finally get to them as I wasn't really inspired by their style & the seats needed to be completely redone.  I took them apart & threw away the old seats.  A friend of mine cut & gave me wood to rebuild the seats & I purchased 4 new cushions for the seats.
After some Painting & Recovering with some Ralph Lauren fabric I already had, this is how they turned out!
