Fun with Polka Dots!

I've been working in some more vibrant colors and having a little fun being creative.

I had an old brass chandelier that came out of one of these track homes around here along with some "ho-hum" plain old windsor chairs.

I couldn't decide what to do with this little dresser until I saw this fantastic paper at the craft store. 
 I loved the antique-iness that the paper already had.  Old news ads..layered old typewriter font.. just really Cool!

I've had this piece done for several weeks now & was just waiting for the Vintage-Looking glass knobs that I like to use on the Antique-Makeovers to get it in.  I was at the store today & they finally restocked! .. I snatched up every one of these & quickly rushed home to put together the finished look.  So Excited to share...

Painted the sides in a Chalky distressed Black.  The the drawer fronts so much Character that the plain white sides looked just that...Plain.

Nothing is Normal or Easy with any Make-Over that I do.  Every piece has "baggage" and some problems I have to troubleshoot and this one was no different.  The dresser was old & needed lots of cleaning up so I painted the drawers inside & OUT.  I slide the nice clean drawers back in their place, anxious to see the progress & guess what??.. STUCK!!  I finally got them all out & because they slide wood-on-wood I took my trusty side kick (Power Sander) & zipped all the paint off, then waxed all those spots by rubbing canning/jelly wax that you can get at the grocery store.  I am happy to report that all that worked!

Don't let this cute little table fool you with it being to dang pretty & dainty because it is SOLID.. HEAVY!!
It's gotta be made of solid Maple. They knew how to make things back them and didn't skimp on quality.

A soft French Pink coats the entire piece with harlequin print painted on each side & front in an old-cream.

A wonder Vintage-Look knob was added. Again, using the same hazey-aged ones I discovered.
When I found this piece it had no hardware so this look is the perfect addition.  Drawer insides are painted a soft cream with a pretty stenciled chandelier.

A Professional French-Wax was hand-rubbed into the entire piece to further give it a beautiful aged-patina & to protect the paint finish.

I didn't know how I was going to make-over this piece until I found beautiful Vintage-Looking Paper at the local hobby store. It has a wonderful aged appearance with browned distressed edges along with fading & yellowing that comes with age.  I loved the pretty floral scroll design of the paper as well.

Three separate pieces across each drawer front added much character & the illusion of more little drawers.  I carefully glued each in place and pressed out any bubbling.  After completely dry I added a layer of varnish to protect the paper and seal down the edges.

This beauty was completely cleaned up & needed paint inside & out for a thorough makeover. Drawers were painted on all sides including underneath & back.
The "Love" stenciling was appropriate on the inside drawers of this piece because it needed alot of it for it's restoration. 

The soft pink paint was gently distressed & sealed with a tinted French Wax to collect in the crackles to further highlight it's age and protect its wonderful French Finish.

6 wonderful knobs adorn this Vintage beauty. 
They have a Hazey-Aged Glass look & are a perfect addition since it did not come with any hardware at all!
